Chinese Giant Salamander

10. CHINESE GIANT SALAMANDER

The Chinese giant salamander is the largest salamander species in the world. Adults can grow up to 5.5 feet in length but some can be as small as 1 foot. The species can be found in cold, fast moving mountain streams of China where caves and rock molds are present. They are mainly nocturnal creatures, preferring to hunt at night, feeding on crabs, shrimps, aquatic insects, fish, and frogs.
